Why Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad has been receiving love on OTT platform but didn’t work in theater?

Well, it’s not a review or neither research! It’s an observation that has been taking place after watching the film on OTT again. 

Yeah! First was in theater!

So, watching Kangana’s Dhaakad again on OTT wasn’t special for me in the beginning as theatrical experience is much better for the kind of movie ‘Dhaakad’ is. The screenplay, the cinematography, the background score, the visuals, you need big screen to enjoy such film. Slowly, after watching few scenes, you kind of get invested again in the film and same happened to me. I felt so consumed by the film though I had my doubt about the film too.

But what makes ‘Dhaakad’ getting 60 million views?  Who are watching the film? Who are these people who didn’t show up at theater but watching it on Zee5?

Well, it’s the same people who would trend #boycottdhaakad on twitter, their obsession for Kangana is true and honest! The thing is, everyone either lovers or haters accept it for the fact that Kangana is great performer and she would do great thing in whatever film she signs. People show their anger by not going to theater but actually want to see her performance. If you remember how ‘Thalaivi’ was trending on Netflix of couple of weeks and how many million views the film had in few weeks. There was flood on twitter appreciating Ranaut’s work as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jaya Lalitha. Kangana was flowless and how she put on weight to justify her position to portray the character of Jaya Amma. Even Kangana’s hater is her biggest admirer and that’s what happening with her latest release ‘Dhaakad’.

Some people are also watching to point out the weak screenplay, direction, music and whatever possible but can’t find anything to blame Ms. Ranaut. She has done a fantastic job and even beyond her limits and people are unable to digest that. She is dazzlingly skilled performer and everyone knows that be it critics, actor from the industry, producers, directors and even people of India. She has outdone herself.

Her action sequence in teaser and trailer has created enough buzz for the film that makes felt it will be superhit film but recent controversy and the possible reason that film failed to attract people to theater was Kangana’s OTT show ‘’ with Ekta Kapoor where she chooses Munawar Faruqui as winner over Payal Rohatgi. I was too surprised to see ‘Munna’ as winner. That was truly the point where everyone felt disappointed with Kangana and chooses not to watch her film on theater plus how she was invited in Salman’s party and all that jazz. People hated her for hypocrisy which might be not intended by Mr. Ranaut but happened anyway.

So much so people hated her, show her that they can make a film hit or flop. People made it clear to her that she can’t just say something and do something else. So far people have supported her in everything she said and did. And their admiration is so pure that while they didn’t go to theater to watch film but they are watching ‘Dhaakad’ on Zee5 and as a result it’s trending and having millions of views in 1 week.
